Before a global pandemic locked all of us into the houses, sometimes the need to travel was so urgent that instead of organizing, planning, choosing every detail of what to see when and how, my two best friends and I decided to let fate choose. Or rather at the web site flykube . Having determined… Continua a leggere “Roads are for enjoying the journey, not for reaching your destination”
It is the city of Harry Potter, Alice, Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes, so despite the brexit, the political behavior to Italy during the emergency, and the snobbery, I will love London forever and unconditionally. And I miss it so so much, because over the years it had become a secure destination, with its powerful smells… Continua a leggere “London is a bad habit one hates to lose.”
Rizzoli & Isles smells like home, has the taste of Sunday evening with the family in front of the fireplace (to have it!) it has the sound of joy and talk in the background. The jingle is explained by the origins of the Rizzoli family: a hydraulic father, a housewife mother, three children, two policemen and a criminal, emigrated from Ireland a few generations before, but still keeping the traditions high, and I think it’s right for us to approach the TV series in the best way, preparing a typical dish: the stew in beer!
A few winters ago, on a Sunday get together with the whole family around the table for dinner, whether unsure to eat something or settle for the 14 courses of lunch, my attention was recalled by a strange background music. A characteristically Irish melody, which immediately puts joy and good humour and desire for Guinness.
It’s I’m Shipping Up to Boston, says Shazam, and is introducing a new crime TV series, which continues to be one of the few series that I watch in Italian with the entire family, “Rizzoli & Isles”.
The protagonists are two very different women: Maura Isles – legal doctor played by Sasha Alexander, and Jane Rizzoli – homicide investigator with the face that never gets old Angie Harmon (try to watch her in “Law & Order” or “The homicides “, she has not aged a day!).
Jane is a…

It’s not the classic TV crime series because the murder, it’s just a pretext to plunge into the life of Castle and Beckett, and for a fast pace, or for jokes and weird theories, which instill good humor in the spectator. Another very funny peculiarity is that in bookstores you can find the “real” novels of Richard Castle, Nathan Fillion – the actor who plays the protagonist – said that the author of the novels appears in the episode in which the new book is presented, so it is rumored that it is Tom Straw, screenwriter and sit-com author, but there is no official confirmation
I know, conventionally, people on Saturday night go out, but – excluding the nights of the shows – when it becomes cold (so from October to March more or less) I prefer to dedicate Friday to social life and on Saturday to burrow myself under a blanket, with pizza *! I wait the all week to be able to enjoy pizza on Saturday, it is now a habit and when it is violated due to force majeure, I get a big sadness.
For years I have been associating pizza with beer, and at the pizza and beer night, I associate Castle because in the Italian programming, it is always showed in the early evening that day.
Richard Castle is a famous writer struggling with a writing block, whose life is upset when a killer begins to kill by taking inspiration from his novels. Therefore he starts…

No more a trilogy… still a pleasure!

London is one of my favourite cities in the world. I’ve been there 9 times, I visited the city in all seasons, I’ve even lived there for a while: I saw London in the October’s fog, under the January’s snow, in the August’s rain and the June’s heat.
I explored the tourist area and that of those who live there, I’ve been in the rich and poor neighborhoods.
I fell in love with the accents of the inhabitants and the perennially autumn colours, I was able to adapt to the foreign food, but not to the low temperatures.
It has not always been like that, in fact the first time I went there it was to study English, I was in one of those summer groups organized by my father’s work. An opportunity to make new friends more than anything else.
I didn’t think I would be…

In March internet was off for a few days and so, with my roommate, I decided it was time to focusing the attention on the box set for the SIX seasons of LOST. TODAY, May 28th, I agree with myself and what I wrote in this article: Lost remains the most beautiful TV series (seasons 1-3) with the ugliest ending ever … ..
Let me play it safe: I’m not objective when I have to talk about LOST, for me it should be seen and reviewed and revised again in Winter, Spring, Fall and Summer !
It is, despite the millions of productions seen in the elapsed time, still my favourite TV series (even with the worst final ever, almost as bad as “Batman vs. Superman”).
Flashback, flashforward, mysteries, brilliant characters!
Many many characters!
Too many characters!
However, if among you there is still some muggle who has not seen this amazing TV series, I suggest you to watch it combined with the summer sun, a nice club sandwich * and a cold beer, possibly Dharma, but alternatively a Schönramer Saphir Bock will be fine as well. If you are on an island it is just perfect, but for those who stayed in the city or country, my suggestion is to…

When someone I know writes a book it's a problem. Yes, because it could be the masterpiece of the Century, but more likely I might not like it, but knowing the author, I face the dilemma: "should I be ruthless and tell him/her? Or should I play along with it? Working as a freelance editor,… Continua a leggere “Keepers, Erebon, soup and beer”
