“Pancakes, Brandy & Manipulation”

Naively, I was convinced that the quiz I was taking part to with my class was an educational and fun idea to learn something new. But just before the red light marked the REC, a producer (who was then called “director’s slave”) came to give me the answers.
Not the questions, the answers !!!!
Even today I persist outraged!

The first time I was in a TV studio I was enchanted by the dazzling lights, the multicolours panels and …. by make-up artists, prompts, hunchbacks, and a thousand other artefacts that are committed to making true what is so fake.

Naively, I was convinced that the quiz I was taking part to with my class was an educational and fun idea to learn something new. But just before the red light marked the REC, a producer (who was then called “director’s slave”) came to give me the answers.
Not the questions, the answers !!!!
Even today I persist outraged!
First of all because I would have known the answers by myself!
Secondly because it was all a scam!
My team had to win because “more telegenic” than the adversary.
That’s all.
No worth.

second-seasonMy support of a spectator was entirely superfluous, indeed, ridiculous, thinking about it, since everything was…

“Three writers: One story”

And having so many genres inside, it is a novel suitable for everyone, it can excite for the poignant love story, for the mystery, for the betrayed friendship, for the inspiration that does not arrive. In an interview the author stated that with this book he aimed to get on his readers the same effect that the TV series Homeland had on him (series I will talk about!):
“You watch one episode, then another, then you start doing stupid things like watching four in a row at night so you can’t work the next day … My ambition was to achieve the same result with a book”

” ‘In our society, Marcus, the most admired men are those who build bridges, skyscrapers, and empires. But in reality, the proudest and most admirable are those who manage to build love. Because there is no greater or more difficult undertaking.’”[1]

Perhaps 779 pages are too many, he could have cut here and there and a great thriller would have come out anyway, yes, maybe the writing is still a bit unripe and the twists and turns are abundant but too isolated towards the end.
All reproaches that are easily found around and that made Joel Dicker[2] the perfect alter ego of the protagonist of his novel: Marcus Goldman, a young and successful writer who finds himself trapped in the writer’s block after the first success. Reading this book was like reading several books at the same time. Not only because it is a combination of different…

“The Experiment”

I would be tempted to do it again, but technologies are my only communication in a summer without holidays …

«This is enough! I have made my decision! I want to spend a week without any new technology. People have done it for generations and generations in the past, I was born when most of these diabolical objects werenot even in the market, so I can! I switch everything off. »

I started this experiment when I came back from vacations. Having been abroad, I felt partially detoxified by the technology and it seemed to me to be a good time.
I was a bit tired by this kind of interdependence between the computer and me and I also started wondering how to do something without tech support  should an hecatomb or a blackout  happen.  .

[I do not want to play the part of the naive but … as soon as I decided to leave withouttechnology I got the flu! And not the light ones, I don’t…

“Who is the number 67?”

Today,  surrounded by an autumn storm, I’ve decidedto talk about a book that could be the symbol of the psychological thriller, a novel that holds on its toes, confuses, puts anxiety and fear such as "and if it happened to me?" but at the same time reassures for the remote era in which it is … Continua a leggere “Who is the number 67?”

“A necessary defect “

<<Since then, I must have given The Rosie Project to at least 50 friends. Graeme has been busy too, writing a sequel called The Rosie Effect. As soon as we heard about it, Melinda and I asked him for an advance copy, and we enjoyed it so much that we invited Graeme to come to Seattle to talk … Continua a leggere “A necessary defect “
