“A Saturday afternoon with Bonita Faye”

I was about 11 years old; I was bored because I had already finished the new horror book in the series, I was crazy about; my father came to me and handed me a “grown-up” novel <read it, you’ll like it >.

If there is a person I trust in everything (especially when it comes to reading) it is my father, so I took this book, and without even asking him what it was about, I sat on the floor with my back against the radiator (habit that I still have today …) and I started it.

“After all, I killed only once every forty years. I had time to die, before the urge returned.”[1]

Saturday afternoon in October, uncertain weather, neither hot enough to play outdoors, nor so cold as to want to take refuge inside, that weather that makes you go around dressed like a fool with snow boots and a tank top, so to speak.

” Apple Pie & Crystal Shoes “

the perplexed girl who lived in the boot, prepared the apple pie * in honour of Grimilde, here transformed into Regina

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

Once upon a time, in a boot-shaped wasteland, there was a girl perplexed by the fact that although they were inept and a bad example for little girls, the princesses of fairy tales always defeated the villains. […] This perplexed girl, growing up, had become more and more team-villains and she wanted alternative versions in which characters like Maleficent, Ursula, Jafar or Grimilde finally got the victory […] Desperate, the perplexed girl thought there was no hope, until one day her team-villains friend invited her to start a new TV series in which the Evil Queen had defeated the Heroes by blocking them in a city without time and without reminiscence, making them live like regular mortals in which she was the only one with the The Dark One  aware of the truth.

“Scent of Ireland”

Rizzoli & Isles smells like home, has the taste of Sunday evening with the family in front of the fireplace (to have it!) it has the sound of joy and talk in the background. The jingle is explained by the origins of the Rizzoli family: a hydraulic father, a housewife mother, three children, two policemen and a criminal, emigrated from Ireland a few generations before, but still keeping the traditions high, and I think it’s right for us to approach the TV series in the best way, preparing a typical dish: the stew in beer!

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

A few winters ago, on a Sunday get together with the whole family around the table for dinner, whether unsure to eat something or settle for the 14 courses of lunch, my attention was recalled by a strange background music. A characteristically Irish melody, which immediately puts joy and good humour and desire for Guinness.

It’s I’m Shipping Up to Boston, says Shazam[1], and is introducing a new crime TV series, which continues to be one of the few series that I watch in Italian with the entire family, “Rizzoli & Isles”.

The protagonists are two very different women: Maura Isles – legal doctor played by Sasha Alexander, and Jane Rizzoli – homicide investigator with the face that never gets old Angie Harmon (try to watch her in “Law & Order” or “The homicides “, she has not aged a day!).

“The best thing I could learn”

ban-gif-life-goes-on-live-favim-com-906053From school I learned that what you really learn are not the times tables or important dates but being with people you do not know and you really care about too little (or too much);
From tales I learned that there are bad guys but you can boycott them;
From volleyball I learned that the individual is strong but it is the group that makes the difference, that no matter how Mother Nature made you, but how you  bring out your grit, determination, strength, tenacity! ;
From the theater I learned that the real actors are all under the stage and that the best masks are the ones we wear every day. That if you believe in something you can make it happen. ;
From the reading I learned that if you know more than others you’ll always be one step ahead, and you will avoid the commonplace;

“Quel cromosoma in più”

    "Ognuno è un genio. Ma se si giudica un pesce dalla sua abilità ad arrampicarsi sugli alberi, lui passerà la sua vita a credersi uno stupido".[1]   Sono sempre stata convinta che non siamo noi a scegliere i libri, sono loro a scegliere noi. Chissà perché. Chissà come. Quando un pomeriggio d’autunno dell’anno… Continue reading “Quel cromosoma in più”

“Skipped Christmas with Cookies and Margarita”

When I watch the TV series set in warm places like Australia or California and I find the Christmas episode, I get a great envy. I can’t tolerate the cold, and as much as I like the snow, hot chocolate and the front of the fireplace, I would exchange all this immediately and without regret… Continue reading “Skipped Christmas with Cookies and Margarita”
