The smell of fried food. If you were to ask me what I identify Naples with, before the sea, the warmness, the fish, the pizza, the alleys, the poetry, the music, the people screaming from window to window. I would say the smell of fried food. Naples is my second home, having almost the whole… Continue reading “See Naples and die”
The series takes its name from the nineteenth-century publications of the same name, the dreadful pennies, and inspired by the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen by Alan Moore, the series intertwines the origins of horror literature characters such as Victor Frankenstein, Dorian Gray (the only note I have to do is the error, once again, of the hair colour alas), Dr. Jekyll, Count Dracula, werewolves, witches and vampires, all of whom are grappling with their creepy madness in Victorian London.
I really like the scenes because they remind me of a huge theatre, with the pictorial poetry of some sequences to make this show a product of rare workmanship and emotion.
* Cornish pie
(The recipe is from my English friend, John)
For the pastry
For the filling
350g beef skirt or chuck steak, finely chopped
1 large onion finely chopped
2 medium potatoes peeled, thinly sliced
1 tbsp freshly ground black pepper
Rub the butter and lard into the flour with a pinch of salt using your fingertips or a food processor, then blend in 6 tbsp cold water to make a firm dough. Cut equally into 4, then chill for 20 mins.
Heat oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7. Mix together the filling ingredients with 1 tsp salt. Roll out each piece of dough on a lightly floured surface until large enough to make a round about 23cm across – use a plate to trim it to shape…

My relationship with Dexter, as with other TV series, was wavering, I finished the first three seasons that same August, but I struggled a lot with the fourth and fifth, so much so that I left it for a while (two years! !!) before ending with a marathon – always during the summer! – of the sixth, seventh and eighth seasons (which in the meantime I had sporadically already seen on TV … a sign that they were actually replicas of replicas of replicas and it was a coincidence that for me it was a novelty) and a kilo of enchiladas shrimps * – which once after the series ended, it took about eight months before I could ate them again…
* ENCHILADOS SHRIMPS
(the recipe is my review of the original recipe)
Ingredients for 4 people
– 1/2 kilo of unshelled prawns
– 3 tablespoons of olive oil
– 1 chopped onion
– 3 garlic teeth
– 1 sprig of parsley
– 1 teaspoon of salt
– 1/8 teaspoon pepper
– 1 lemon
– 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce
– 1/2 cup of sweet dry white wine
– hot pepper to taste
We lightly mean the prawns. Prepare a sauté with oil, garlic, onion and parsley. In this sauce we throw the previously peeled prawns and garnished with salt, pepper and lemon. We remove them and add the chilli pepper, tomato sauce and wine. At this point, we throw the prawns back, uncover the pan and cook them over low heat until they are very tender.
Once again, I find myself watching a bloody…

<Wait. Before starting it, go buy some sweets, possibly donuts>, my mother suggests to me as she browse the pages of a book.
I glared a bit, if anything I would have expected she recommend an ice with that suffocating heat, but she smiles at me <trust me>.
And I trust her.
“If you can’t be a good example, you’ll just have to be a horrible warning.”
“Fresh, silky, fun, engaging and enveloping, passionate and fluent”, these were the adjectives associated with the novel by those who had already read it, and which prompted me to want to read it on a sunny and lazy June afternoon, while someone was already on vacation and I was struggling with the summer university exam session! Tired of studying on university books, I went to my parents’ library – which may seem they have a book store, but it’s not the case , they “only” have eight shelves full of novels of all kinds (still wondering how I became a bookaholic? Here is the answer!) – and I started looking for some titles that I hadn’t already read, a titanic but not impossible feat considering that 4 out of 4 family members read…

Personally, I grew up with this show, when it came out in 2002 I was sixteen … now I’m thirty … it’s easy to understand that now Lorelai, Rory, Luke, Sookie and the rest of the country, are part of my life, my family! So, I must admit , every time it is on tv, I find myself rewatching it, so much so that I could recite line by line some of the episodes.
And every time I watch an episode I get very hungry!!!
Is there any of you that never heard this theme? I can’t believe it, it’s impossible!
Willy-nilly it happened to everyone of us to listen to it and maybe even humming it, since on TV they give the replicas of “Gilmore Girls” one day in one day out!
Whether it is summer or winter, with rain, snow or the sun, it is in the schedules! A guarantee equal only to “Murders she wrote” and, despite this, every time it succeeds to make a share to envy the news around, despite we know all the jokes by heart we continue to watch the show, cause Stars Hollow is always a second home, you can’t avoid to fall in love with Jess(or Dean, or Chris, or Luke, or Logan, depends on your #ship) and remain glued to listen to the fast dialogues of the protagonists. Impossible to resist the…

Currently the first two seasons are available on Netflix, but after the special Halloween 2016, there is a third and final (rumours) season made of six episodes.
We are still waiting
The horrorhas never been my favourite kind, but there has been a Summer during my teenage years when a series of such films stepped out and so I have seen them all, becoming almost a fan.
Rarely these stories make me really scared, insted their soundtracks leave me with that sense of subdued anguish , but to be honest a few scenes let me also with sleepless nights.
Although not an expert I know the main rule:
so when I heard that they would have created a TV series from a horror saga I was very much intrigued. I find it already difficult to make the film sequel, but even a TV show? How?
Criticism and vaguely sceptical – for the cast of teenagers, for the genre, for the usual bad guy with the mask -, I arranged an energetic bowl of popcorn *, a nice glass of…

It might be because of the replication on Paramount Channel or because ofthe reunion the cast made a few days ago about the presidential debate, it might be because it remains one of my favourite shows, despite the years and the ending a bit sad … I don’t know but I felt the need to review Will & Grace, AGAIN
It might be because of the replication on Paramount Channel or because ofthe reunion the cast made a few days ago about the presidential debate, it might be because it remains one of my favourite shows, despite the years and the ending a bit sad … I don’t know but I felt the need to reviewWill & Grace, the sitcom transmit on the screens of the NBC from 1998 to May 2006 that was the first so openly speaking about homosexuality. A theme that still seems ablaze, despite the past ten years from the closing of the show. I have always been shocked about homophobia, I just can not understand it and I find it ridiculous and inappropriate. Love is love. It’s complicated, necessary, weird, silly, but it is love. Full stop.
Even Joe Biden, the US Vice President, has accredited the fundamental role “Will…

provide yourself with the S’mores Lollipop * and other mouth-watering treats, with a beautiful face mask (one of those that…. if you open the door with that cucumber smeared on your face you are more scarying than if you wore a full Halloween costume), and make sure that there is still a daylight, or someone in your home that can protect you from the psychological anxiety that this show generates.
Halloween has always been one of my favourite celebrations!
I know, I know, is not an Italian custom. So what? I celebrate it anyway. It will be for my penchant for the theatre but the idea of dressing up and walk around with a different face for a night in which everything-can-happen, it’s something I really like!
I’m glad that in recent years it is also spreading here and that some children come knocking for the traditional “trick or treat?”; It will not be a little make-up and fun to make us lose our cultural identity !!
What I hope is not going to be imported along with the festivities and costumes by creatures of the night, it is the incredible spear in murders that take place on the night of October 31.
I don’t think it’s the party itself to blame, whilst the possibility for murderers to blend…

A country manor, a dog, the rustling of a curtain, high ceilings, a trilling bell, the mail that is sorted, a butler who keeps order downstairs and a count who tries to affirm himself in a house full of women.
Don’t you have any idea of what I’m talking about? But it is unacceptable, my dears, you should definitely fix this!
Downton Abbey, the series created by Julian Fellowes (author of “Gosford Park”) is exactly what it takes to face theFall.
Who went to England knows that the weather is almost dull and rainy, like a melancholy memory postcard. And the Fall is like this: it looks a bit like an impressionist painting where the brushstrokes are violent, thunderous but delineate a gentle, comforting landscape. Downton Abbey fits perfectly to this type of climate and atmosphere.
“Downton Abbey” proved that drama didn’t have to be dark…or…

They say thatSpringis the season of love . They say. Well, I still have to find out who’s saing that but since the gardens become green again , the flowers bloom , the swallows come back , it seems to be so : love is in the air .
I do not know whether it is true or just a romantic legend , what I know for sure is that there is pollen in the air and that means that my eyes begin to shed tears , my nose to drip , my throat swells up , I begin to scratch like a monkey in rut and I’m more irritable than usual .If the formula applies to you as well [Spr+ing = Allergy²] you are in the right place because I think I have the appropriate relief for our sufferings : all we need…
