“Pancakes, Brandy & Manipulation”

Naively, I was convinced that the quiz I was taking part to with my class was an educational and fun idea to learn something new. But just before the red light marked the REC, a producer (who was then called “director’s slave”) came to give me the answers.
Not the questions, the answers !!!!
Even today I persist outraged!

The first time I was in a TV studio I was enchanted by the dazzling lights, the multicolours panels and …. by make-up artists, prompts, hunchbacks, and a thousand other artefacts that are committed to making true what is so fake.

Naively, I was convinced that the quiz I was taking part to with my class was an educational and fun idea to learn something new. But just before the red light marked the REC, a producer (who was then called “director’s slave”) came to give me the answers.
Not the questions, the answers !!!!
Even today I persist outraged!
First of all because I would have known the answers by myself!
Secondly because it was all a scam!
My team had to win because “more telegenic” than the adversary.
That’s all.
No worth.

“Once upon a time (and still)”

Once upon a time, in a boot-like land there was, a perplexed girl who wondered why, despite being inadequate and a bad example for little girls, princesses of fairy tales always defeated villains.

Saved Aurora, a poor little girl that has been relegated to live with three naughty “aunts” at the confines of civilization and banned from the Realm when it would have been enough to say to her images“Dearest you have been cursed because we are so foolish that we did not invite the most powerful witch of the Universe to your baptism, so stay away from the archers! >>, and instead, she is ignorant and confused, like every adolescent we know, as soon as she can, she tries to get away from the boring life she leads; And his brave Prince Philip, who, after all, gains his glory, riding in the trenches and defeating the…

“Sometimes the only way to stay Sane is to go a little Crazy”

The feeling that this book has left me is the desire to move on! To overcome the small and big difficulties of life, because making a small mistake is enough to interrupt it.

“In a strange way we were free. We’d reached the end of the line. We had nothing more to lose. Our privacy, our liberty, our dignity: all of this was gone and we were stripped down to the bare bones of our selves” [1]

tumblr_mstgxp6uui1si0eu0o1_500I do not often see the film first – beautiful, exciting, attractive: I highly recommend it! –and then look for the book from which it is taken, but in this case it would have been difficult to find it, because “The girl interrupted” was for years in the psychology department, being more than a novel, a real diary of the author and of her broken up years. It is almost ironic that it has been misunderstood as a genre because it is precisely what happened to the protagonist. At seventeen Susanna Kaysen, after a short visit from a doctor she had never seen…

“Castle, Pizza and Beer”

It’s not the classic TV crime series because the murder, it’s just a pretext to plunge into the life of Castle and Beckett, and for a fast pace, or for jokes and weird theories, which instill good humor in the spectator. Another very funny peculiarity is that in bookstores you can find the “real” novels[2] of Richard Castle, Nathan Fillion – the actor who plays the protagonist – said that the author of the novels appears in the episode in which the new book is presented, so it is rumored that it is Tom Straw, screenwriter and sit-com author, but there is no official confirmation

I know, conventionally, people on Saturday night go out, but – excluding the nights of the shows – when it becomes cold (so from October to March more or less) I prefer to dedicate Friday to social life and on Saturday to burrow myself under a blanket, with pizza *! I wait the all week to be able to enjoy pizza on Saturday, it is now a habit and when it is violated due to force majeure, I get a big sadness.

tumblr_mzetbo8qbk1s30a57o1_500For years I have been associating pizza with beer[1], and at the pizza and beer night, I associate Castle because in the Italian programming, it is always showed in the early evening that day.

“Life is not a Movie”

Life is not a movie.
Life is not a novel.
Life is not, undoubtedly, a movie based of a novel.

Life is not a movie.
Life is not a novel.
Life is not, undoubtedly, a movie based of a novel.

I know, I did not have to tell you; But it is good to rehiterate it because from time to time we tend to forget it and it’s easy to find our selfeves complicating everything.

– And even if it was, a movie or novel I mean, my writer must have been drunk, that would explain many things, such as the systematic alternation of empty and flat periods and others when I perpetually go into trouble. –

Come on, do not tell me you have never fantasized when your hand have met the one of an unknown stranger over the last litre of milk, your eyes crossed and to “take it” <<no, you were first >> << I insist, take it >> << you are so kind, I just needed…

<<Since then, I must have given The Rosie Project to at least 50 friends. Graeme has been busy too, writing a sequel called The Rosie Effect. As soon as we heard about it, Melinda and I asked him for an advance copy, and we enjoyed it so much that we invited Graeme to come to Seattle to talk to us about it.>>

 I don’t usually trust the reviews of others about books, but if Bill Gates is careful to dwell on the book to all his friends and write reviews everywhere, this a intrigues me quite a bit:

Don is a professor of genetics at the Melbourne’s University who recently made an incredible discovery: married men are on average happier than single men. This is why he decided, as a scientist, to change the fact that he doesn’t have a partner and he never managed to find one in a project: The…

“The snow does not care…”

In Rome it does not happen often, and in those rare occasions when it falls, unfortunately it is a big problem because the city gets paralyzed.

But when it happens it is an extraordinary sight, an example of how nature is amazing.

tumblr_n8opg8pmkr1t19jpho1_500Winter is a strange seasonwhich lasts exactly like all the others but it seems longer, it might be for the cold, because we mount up so many commitments, because the days are shorter and you are likely to leave the house when it’s dark and returning after dark.

The sky is dark, blue-grey, the streets are busy, parks are empty if we not count some unfortunate person who has no other place to go.

But there is a moment when everything disappears, everything seems muffled and beautiful, almost magical: when it snows.

Classics: “The Count of Monte Cristo”

It’s time to read it again

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

“Moral wounds have this peculiarity – they may be hidden, but they never heal; always painful, always ready to bleed when touched, they remain fresh and open in the heart.”[1]

tumblr_mvsihbgmoa1rsbzcro9_500I kept this classic waiting for three years . There in the bookstores , sometimes I approached it , I thumbed through , I read a few sentences and put it back . I was not ready , it wasn’t the right time .
As I said , a book , a great classic in particular , requires proper attention , the urgent desire by the reader to jump in its pages and not the need to say ” I read it , I was clever .”
It is not a competition to see who is smarter , there are no prizes for those who pretend to be intellectualist. A good book, like a fine wine , should be…

“The best thing I could learn”

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

ban-gif-life-goes-on-live-favim-com-906053From school I learned that what you really learn are not the times tables or important dates but being with people you do not know and you really care about too little (or too much);
From tales I learned that there are bad guys but you can boycott them;
From volleyball I learned that the individual is strong but it is the group that makes the difference, that no matter how Mother Nature made you, but how you  bring out your grit, determination, strength, tenacity! ;
From the theater I learned that the real actors are all under the stage and that the best masks are the ones we wear every day. That if you believe in something you can make it happen. ;
From the reading I learned that if you know more than others you’ll always be one step ahead, and you will avoid the commonplace;

“In my Day”

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

My look is quite misleading.
I have a sweet face, framed by a fall of light brown almost golden curls (well, I actually have red fire shaved on one side hair, but these are just details), and for nothing in the world people would think “this is a B**ch”.
About love.
This is what we are talking about!
I do not easily fall in love. Just ask those poor wretches of my former guys.

It is not in my attitude: I do not cry for a romantic movie (indeed if I can, I totally avoid to watch it!), the animal puppies do not send me into raptures (but human puppies yes, I admit, how beautiful are those small smelly feet???), I hate to go shopping (except for books), I stain myself when I eat and I am literally allergic to the word “marriage”.
And so what, would you…
