“Pork Ribs for the nuclear Apocalypse”

Fortunately, to alleviate my despair, RaiDue decided to broadcast one of the craziest TV series of that time and surely one of the unluckiest, so much so that it was canceled twice.
But don’t be put off, because I promise you it’s a dystopian and adrenaline-fueled series that you can’t miss.

“Who killed Laura Palmer?”

Fans of TV series or mystery, amateurs of the surreal, connoisseurs of wild shipping, it is a product that manages to capture everyone, and deserves to be watched and re-watched even if only for the merit of having been an open track.

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

It could be because the mysterious new season will be release soon, but I have a great desire to watch Twin Peaks again!

I don’t know what to expect from this reboot of Twin Peaks, but I’m definitely curious to find out what that genius David Lynch[1] has in mind for us!

Who does not know THE TV series par excellence? The product that changed the television schedule forever …

When the pilot came out, in 1990, the mystery of Laura Palmer’s death was a reason for daily dialogue, nothing that was on TV at the time was able even in the slightest to come close to that mixture of mystery, soap opera and auteur cinema which, also relying on a clever catchphrase as simple as it is intelligent (“Who killed Laura Palmer?”), had wedged itself into homes all over the world and had induced unsuspecting bystanders to clash…

“A Long Summer with « My Brilliant Friend» “

Summer is still far away, although the first days of intense heat are coming – even if go together with three or four days of rain and cold. – But, by booking now, perhaps, a trip to the Sorrento’s coast will not cost you a fortune.

There is something magical in the scent of lemons at sunset.

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

Have you ever been to Sorrento in July? with the scent of lemon that spreads everywhere, it mixes with the sea, with fish, with the fried food of street vendors, with freshly baked biscuits.

Have you ever been on one of the wonderful terraces looking at the Golfo, sipping limoncello * and enjoying mozzarella in carrozza[1] or other specialties?

No?

What are you waiting for?

Life is one and some whim must be satisfied!

Summer is still far away, although the first days of intense heat are coming – even if go together with three or four days of rain and cold. – But, by booking now, perhaps, a trip to the Sorrento’s coast will not cost you a fortune.

There is something magical in the scent of lemons at sunset.

Or maybe it’s simply the idea of a holiday, of relaxation, which I don’t see on the horizon…

“Have a KILLER day!”

My relationship with Dexter, as with other TV series, was wavering, I finished the first three seasons that same August, but I struggled a lot with the fourth and fifth, so much so that I left it for a while (two years! !!) before ending with a marathon – always during the summer! – of the sixth, seventh and eighth seasons (which in the meantime I had sporadically already seen on TV … a sign that they were actually replicas of replicas of replicas and it was a coincidence that for me it was a novelty) and a kilo of enchiladas shrimps * – which once after the series ended, it took about eight months before I could ate them again…

* ENCHILADOS SHRIMPS
(the recipe is my review of the original recipe)

Ingredients for 4 people

– 1/2 kilo of unshelled prawns
– 3 tablespoons of olive oil
– 1 chopped onion

– 1/8 teaspoon pepper
– 1 lemon
– 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce
– 1/2 cup of sweet dry white wine

We lightly mean the prawns. Prepare a sauté with oil, garlic, onion and parsley. In this sauce we throw the previously peeled prawns and garnished with salt, pepper and lemon. We remove them and add the chilli pepper, tomato sauce and wine. At this point, we throw the prawns back, uncover the pan and cook them over low heat until they are very tender.

Easy, right?

Once again, I find myself watching a bloody…

“Art, Men, Cream cake and Donuts”

<Wait. Before starting it, go buy some sweets, possibly donuts>, my mother suggests to me as she browse the pages of a book.

I glared a bit, if anything I would have expected she recommend an ice with that suffocating heat, but she smiles at me <trust me>.

And I trust her.

“If you can’t be a good example, you’ll just have to be a horrible warning.”[1]

Fresh, silky, fun, engaging and enveloping, passionate and fluent”, these were the adjectives associated with the novel by those who had already read it, and which prompted me to want to read it on a sunny and lazy June afternoon, while someone was already on vacation and I was struggling with the summer university exam session! Tired of studying on university books, I went to my parents’ library – which may seem they have a book store, but it’s not the case , they “only” have eight shelves full of novels of all kinds (still wondering how I became a bookaholic? Here is the answer!) – and I started looking for some titles that I hadn’t already read, a titanic but not impossible feat considering that 4 out of 4 family members read…

“Three writers: One story”

And having so many genres inside, it is a novel suitable for everyone, it can excite for the poignant love story, for the mystery, for the betrayed friendship, for the inspiration that does not arrive. In an interview the author stated that with this book he aimed to get on his readers the same effect that the TV series Homeland had on him (series I will talk about!):
“You watch one episode, then another, then you start doing stupid things like watching four in a row at night so you can’t work the next day … My ambition was to achieve the same result with a book”

” ‘In our society, Marcus, the most admired men are those who build bridges, skyscrapers, and empires. But in reality, the proudest and most admirable are those who manage to build love. Because there is no greater or more difficult undertaking.’”[1]

Perhaps 779 pages are too many, he could have cut here and there and a great thriller would have come out anyway, yes, maybe the writing is still a bit unripe and the twists and turns are abundant but too isolated towards the end.
All reproaches that are easily found around and that made Joel Dicker[2] the perfect alter ego of the protagonist of his novel: Marcus Goldman, a young and successful writer who finds himself trapped in the writer’s block after the first success. Reading this book was like reading several books at the same time. Not only because it is a combination of different…

“Better the Devil (in a Prada dress) you know”

As I am not the classic girl who goes into raptures at the prospect of an afternoon of shopping , in fact, more than once I pretended being influenced to avoid them , I must admit that reading this book made me want to dress better, cure details, manicure , buy jewellery , hats , handbags, shoes … ah shoes …… ..

Remember when I told you not to trust the books with  covers too ” Vogue ” style? … .. Oops ! Well , how is it that you say … the exception that makes the rule.
Yes, once again, I find myself talking about a book that roughly certainly most of you will have seen in the movie version ! And once again I invite you to follow the advice to go back to the source and read the Lauren Weisberger novel[1]; because , despite a stellar cast that…

“If on a Summer’s morning ‘He & She’…”

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

giphy10<<It will be Summer — eventually.
Ladies — with parasols —
Sauntering Gentlemen — with Canes —
And little Girls — with Dolls —
Will tint the pallid landscape —
As ‘twere a bright Bouquet —
Thro’ drifted deep, in Parian —
The Village lies — today —
The Lilacs — bending many a year —
Will sway with purple load —
The Bees — will not despise the tune —
Their Forefathers — have hummed —
The Wild Rose — redden in the Bog —
The Aster — on the Hill
Her everlasting fashion — set —
And Covenant Gentians — frill —
Till Summer folds her miracle —
As Women — do — their Gown —
Of Priests — adjust the Symbols —
When Sacrament — is done >>

Apparently, from accurate market research , inSummer the readers multiply compared to all…

“Tuna Tartare, White Wine & Revenge”

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

Thesea sparkling wave crests breaking on the rocks , the breeze that dangles the swings , children chasing each other with bucket and spade , the iodine smell on the warm skin ,
the happy lull of lazy rest of the summer , are the ideal setting for a terrace at sunset , a glass ofGewurztraminer , and a delicious fresh tuna tartare * , to be tasted on a comfortable wicket sofa on a terrace at sunset.
giphy7It would be the perfect scenery for a romantic evening , with a few citronella candles to avoid being eaten by tigers mosquitoes , but if you were to be the single case-hardened ( for yours or others choice) , then I have a fantastic alternative for you !
Perhaps because of the luxurious holiday location in the Hamptons , the TV series “Revenge” has always made me…
