New York is, I think, the most cited city in the world of media: from radio to TV through to books: like it or not, everyone has felt like they belong to the New York people at least once!
We met Ally in the streets of Manhattan, took classes next to Blair at NYU, had breakfast at Central Perk, chased the criminals through the streets of Brooklyn.

New York is the goal, the dream, the goal.

Sure the United States offers far more beautiful cities and views, but anyone who has ever planned a trip to…

“11.22.63 _ Save President Kennedy (or don’t)”

The soundtrack is another good point of the show, during the 8 episodes of the first and only season, you can listen to songs of the quality of Stay (Just a Little Bit Longer) by Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs, Then He Kissed Me by the female group The Crystals, Sam Cooke’s soul with Bring It On Home To Me up to the symbolic Soldier Boy sung by Shirelles.

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

Abrams and King, as soon as I read these two paired names I was convinced. I haven’t even watched the trailer, but I went to browse around the plot and I found it absolutely brilliant: Kennedy was one of the most beloved presidents of the States, but is it because he is dead too soon? In the short time he was President he made positive choices for his country, but would he continue to go on like this if he stayed alive?
Could some of the recent wars have been avoided? Could Kennedy have saved the world?
Based on this question, Jake Epping’s (James Franco) ride through time begins in an effort to change the fate of the President.
11.22.63 is the date that must be changed, but this secret assignment will be hampered not only by Lee Harvey Oswald (the one who was found guilty of the crime –…

“Pirožki, Jail and Freedom”

This is exactly what the TV series I want to recommend to everyone is about: ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, by Piper Chapman, played by Taylor Schilling (“Mercy”, “Argo”) a Waspy (white, blonde, upper middle class) 34 years old, who lives her very banal life in New York; she lives with a losing but sweet boyfriend, and leads a quiet and normal life.

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

“If you have pirožki in your bag, it means you are not alone. Someone loves you. “

Red’s Pirožki
(the recipe is taken from an Expo 2015 recipe book)

Ingredients for the dough (dose for about 50 pirozki)

-1 kg of flour
-250 ml of semi-skimmed milk
-35 gr of yeast
-2 eggs
-150 grams of sugar
-1 sales teaspoon
-200 gr of butter

Method

We heat the milk over low heat, stirring constantly until it reaches a very high temperature. We add a little sugar and mix it with the flour and salt.
We combine the yeast, then the eggs and finally the milk. We mix well with a whisk or by hand, until the dough separates from the walls of the bowl. Cover with a cotton cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about sixty minutes.
When the dough has risen, add the melted butter…

“Lunch with Felicity”

“Felicity” gave the impression that college was a wonderful place for meetings and network.
After three years with the same people, and two others ahead, it looked like heaven! Not that I was not happy with my class, at least with part of it, but the image of American colleges is always idyllic and makes me want to go not so much to join classes (almost always unjustified absent) but for the dormitories, the refectory, the everyday jobs, the study groups (which did everything except studying).

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

<<I trust you, Felicity. This is my drama: for better or for worse, I always believe in you.>>

When I used to come back from high school starving, I often had to wait for my brother to  return, hence to avoid eating the plate and the tablecloth, I used t turn on the TV hoping there was something decent that could distracted me. Of course, lunchtime was my mother’s turn to choose what to watch, but from time to time she let us select the series provided it was something she liked too. That’s how I started watching “Felicity”.
It was the end of May, the school luckily was almost at the end but that meant classroom work in a burst, so the idea to get out of that nightmare and start the university where – naively I thought – I could handle all my time, was a real relief.

“It is always (RED) tea time”

A curiosity of the TV series lies in the titles of the episodes, in fact up to the eighth of the sixth season, the word “red” or other terms that refer to color (such as “blood”, “crimson” or “cherry”) always appear. This is a clear reference to the name of serial killer Red John, who, while not appearing in all the episodes, is regularly involved in the psychological life of the protagonist. In the Italian version, the word “red” is always put in the titles, even when in the original title are found other words.

“One by One…”

The skill of showrunner Jeffrey Bell is right here: since there is a killer who can be hidden anywhere, whenever there is a mysterious situation, Bell moves our focus on a different character, thus making us lose the thread of our investigations. In fact, it is impossible not to get carried away, trying to realize first of all who is killing all the participants in Henry and Trish’s wedding, on Harper’s Island

Thr0ugh The Mirr0r

There was a time when streaming was still a kind of distant mirage and to which only the computer experts could access; a time when private networks were so expensive that they were elite, when Netflix or Nowtv didn’t exist. A time when, in short, you had to settle for what was on the “non-pay” TV.

And it is at that time, September 2009 – in record speed for the time considering that it was aired on CBS in April !!! and usually it took at least a year for the dubbed version – that Rai Due in a moment of unexpected lucidity aired Harper’s Island every Sunday evening at the end of the summer, putting in agreement viewers who are passionate about thrillers, those who are passionate about Agatha Cristie -style detective stories , and horror fans.

Because this series, which already promised to be unique and effective from…

“Is it always Spring in Alabama?”

Now, beyond the fact that in this remote village are all beautiful, what has convinced us to watch the TV series is the cast and lightness of the plot, almost a sitcom. We are more and more avid about not only the characters, the love affairs (predictable!), but also careers, food *, places, and we are almost persuaded to make a trip in Alabama as soon as possible, because in all the seasons, it always seems like it’s Spring! But nobody, and I mean nobody suffers from allergies !!!! – who knows, maybe the flowers there do not wildly pollinate like here, or they have heavier antihistamines

“Penny Dreadful: between Blood and Wine”

The series takes its name from the nineteenth-century publications of the same name, the dreadful pennies, and inspired by the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen by Alan Moore, the series intertwines the origins of horror literature characters such as Victor Frankenstein, Dorian Gray (the only note I have to do is the error, once again, of the hair colour alas), Dr. Jekyll, Count Dracula, werewolves, witches and vampires, all of whom are grappling with their creepy madness in Victorian London.

I really like the scenes because they remind me of a huge theatre, with the pictorial poetry of some sequences to make this show a product of rare workmanship and emotion.

“Have a KILLER day!”

My relationship with Dexter, as with other TV series, was wavering, I finished the first three seasons that same August, but I struggled a lot with the fourth and fifth, so much so that I left it for a while (two years! !!) before ending with a marathon – always during the summer! – of the sixth, seventh and eighth seasons (which in the meantime I had sporadically already seen on TV … a sign that they were actually replicas of replicas of replicas and it was a coincidence that for me it was a novelty) and a kilo of enchiladas shrimps * – which once after the series ended, it took about eight months before I could ate them again…
